Attractions
Visitors are drawn to Jackson Hole by the millions during summer, to witness the area's many natural and cultural attractions. These same attractions are available for enjoyment during the winter months, with the added benefits of smaller crowds and plenty of snow to play in. The Tetons are every bit as grand cloaked in snow as they are in summer.
Yellowstone's thermal features spout and boil as always, billowing steam into the crisp winter air. Large mammals venture down from the highlands, gathering in valleys to weather the long winter months. Bands of wooly bison huddle around geyser basins for warmth. The National Elk Refuge fills with nearly 10,000 wintering elk - an incredible sight to see! Moose and deer are known to wander the streets around town. And of course, our winter recreation is legendary. Hiking, biking, horseback riding and rafting are replaced by skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and even dog sledding. Winter provides new and exciting ways to enjoy our natural attractions, and with fewer vacationers in town, the true "cowboy" spirit of Jackson Hole comes alive!
