Jackson Town Square
The Jackson Wyoming Town Square has always been the center of activity for the entire Jackson Hole valley. The first commercial buildings appeared here over 100 years ago, in the days when Jackson was a tiny cowboy town, with cattle as the local trade. The town has come a long way since those early days, and the face of the Town Square has changed over time. Stores that once served the local ranching community have now been replaced by art galleries, boutiques, sport shops, and fine restaurants. However, the Town Square is still uniquely western.

The heart of the Town Square is the park at its center, filling the entire middle block. The park offers a pleasant place to sit and relax while watching shoppers, tourists, and local townsfolk as they move around the square. Each corner of the park is framed by a tall antler arch, made with real elk antlers gathered from the National Elk Refuge just north of town (male elk lose their antlers each spring and grow a new set during summer). The arches are a favorite photo spot for visitors.
Be sure to step into the world-famous Cowboy Bar for a look around. This is one of the oldest establishments in Wyoming. The decor is unforgettable, with knotted pine accents and western murals throughout. If you are so inclined, enjoy a drink at the bar, but get ready to climb on - the barstools are saddles!
If you are craving a thick, juicy burger, you'll find a quaint "50s diner" atmosphere at Billy Burgers, just a few steps from the Cowboy Bar. It's a small joint, so be prepared to wait around lunch time. The burgers are worth waiting.
If you happen to be here during the summer months, and you wish to step back in time, authentic Stagecoach rides are available at the southwest corner of the Town Square. Also, dont miss the feature of the day - the Jackson Hole Shootout, a staged drama held every summer night at 6 pm at the southeast corner of the square.
No matter when you visit, you will find the Jackson Town Square is the hub for shopping, dining, and nightlife in Jackson Hole!
